With three majors to choose from you can take the path of your choice across:
- Criminology and violence prevention – understand criminology and help communities feel safe. You’ll gain insights from leading experts into trauma informed practice, child protection, youth crime and research methods.
- Investigations and intelligence – this first of its kind major in Australia, will explore how to use intelligence to conduct ethical and culturally competent investigations. Students will gain an understanding of multiple intelligence systems, the intelligence process and how to navigate the complexities of working with multiple stakeholders.
- Policy, politics and social reform – this major empowers students to drive social change by shaping policies that address injustice. It focuses on supporting vulnerable and marginalised communities through political and policy-based solutions.
Real-world learning
From your first year of study, you'll collaborate with students and teaching staff from across disciplines and engage in hands-on projects developed in collaboration with real industry partners.
As your course progresses, you'll have opportunities to gain experience and make meaningful industry connections through your capstone project with options of a:
- professional justice placement
- professional placement in first nations justice sectors
- justice industry project
You’ll also participate in QUT You units, aimed to build life skills that will span careers in any field or discipline. You’ll challenge your thinking, develop your skills and capability to be able to make a real impact through units that focus on real-world issues, supported by community and industry partners, academics, and researchers.

The Bachelor of Justice degree is designed with your unique career goals in mind, with its built-in flexibility providing you with multiple opportunities to extend and expand your studies.
You will choose your first justice major, which will develop your specialist knowledge in your chosen field. You will also study common justice core units that develop key creative, critical and professional skills to prepare you for a range of roles and career pathways. In your final year of study, you will engage in your justice capstone units to put theory into practice and develop your real-world experience.
Your degree features:
- six core units that develop key problem-solving, analytical and professional skills and two capstone units (one core unit and a chosen second unit)
- one chosen six-unit justice major, focused on developing your skills and knowledge in your preferred area
- eight complementary units that allow you to either:
- extend your skills through a suite of justice specialisation minors and units
- or diversify your skills through studying a second justice major or a combination of university wide majors, and minors.
- two QUT You units, an innovative new university-wide curriculum designed to prepare you for a rapidly changing future
