Explore this course
In your first year, you’ll complete your common IT units, including an introduction to computer systems, learning design and building principles, and developing databases for effective data management. You’ll also learn programming principles.
The Business Analysis and IT Management Major consists of 72 credit points of compulsory units. The core units include Process Modelling, Strategy and Management, Business Analysis for IT Systems, Data Analytics for Enterprise Systems, Enterprise Architecture as well as Consulting and Leadership—giving you both business and data foundations to thrive.
Your final year is your opportunity to showcase your skills with a major project. Your project will be for a real-world client and will be unveiled at the IT and Games Showcase, held at the end of the year.
Careers and outcomes
Graduates of the Bachelor of Information Technology (Business Analysis and IT Management) are prepared for a range of dynamic roles at the intersection of business and technology. You could start your career as a business analyst, identifying business needs and recommending IT or data-driven solutions; an IT project manager, leading teams and coordinating resources to deliver impactful technology projects; or an IT consultant, advising organisations on how to effectively leverage technology and data to achieve their business goals.
With experience, you can progress into senior roles such as IT manager, overseeing teams, systems and operations; enterprise architect, designing IT infrastructure and aligning technology with strategic business objectives; or even executive leadership positions like Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Chief Digital Officer (CDO), where you’ll be responsible for shaping digital strategy and driving organisational transformation.
Professional recognition
This course is accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). ACS provides graduates with eligibility for ACS membership, recognition by ACS for certification and migration skills assessment, and international recognition by signatories of the Seoul Accord.
