Bachelor of Creative Arts/Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology)

As a graduate of this unique double degree, you will have a diverse and future-focused set of skills at your disposal. You will choose your creative arts major, which will be strengthened by the development of psychologically founded critical, digital and practical skills throughout your degree. You will also gain practical experience in industry settings and public events, preparing you to apply your skills in your future career.  

Bachelor of Creative Arts 

You will complete common units in your creative arts degree, providing you with key creative and critical skills. You will develop your professional awareness preparing you for a range of creative roles and career pathways.   

You will develop your craft by choosing one of the following majors:

• animation
• creative writing
• drama
• film and screen
• music
• visual arts.

You will also have the option to take either an advanced arts elective to expand your skills, or complete a work integrated learning unit that complements your studies.  

Bachelor of Behaviour Science (Psychology) 

The psychology course includes a balanced mix of theory and practical experiences, incorporating technology to enhance your digital capabilities. You will develop professional agility and high-level communication skills along with critical thinking and robust research skills. You will engage in self-reflection to better understand your impact on the world around you, and develop your capabilities in partnership with your peers, individuals, communities, and other professionals. 

You will have the option to gain experience in the workplace before you graduate and complete a placement in a professional environment that aligns with your career goals. Placement opportunities are available across a range of different organisational sectors. 

QUT You 

You will also complete two university-wide QUT You units; an innovative new curriculum, designed to prepare you for a rapidly changing future. 

Real-world facilities

Based at QUT Kelvin Grove campus, you will develop your creativity and collaborate in one of Australia’s most technically advanced creative facilities—the Creative Industries Precinct.  

In these spaces you will hone your creativity and entrepreneurial thinking, collaborating with fellow artists, designers, technologists and entrepreneurs, within highly sophisticated experimental zones. 

Housing purpose-built teaching and learning spaces, the Creative Industries Precinct includes:  

• visual art, music and performance studios

• specialist computing labs for animation and virtual reality, music, and creative arts technologies

Careers and outcomes

Graduates of the Bachelor of Creative Arts/Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) double degree will be equipped with a blend of creative expression, critical and cultural literacy and psychological knowledge to address real-world problems with innovative forms of therapy and programs. 

You will be well prepared for the workplace, having examined and applied psychological theory, methods and research to a wide range of issues and diverse perspectives, including personal, social, developmental, cognitive, cross-cultural and Indigenous perspectives. You will also develop graduate capabilities such as high-level communication, research and digital skills that support your ability to be agile.   

This double degree prepares students for a broad range of professional fields including: art therapy, music therapy, community facilitation and cultural development, narrative therapy, human factors specialist, user experience designer and creative counsellor or in any number of allied health industry or creative roles. 

In a rapidly changing technological world with increasing reliance on AI, an understanding of human behaviour will offer an advantage to those pursuing a career as a creative practitioner such as actors, musicians, contemporary visual or performing artists, curators, film, television or theatre directors, or creative writers.

Graduates are also equipped for the growing field of postgraduate research that draws on creativity, health, and psychology to address existent and emergent personal and social issues. Graduates can continue their studies toward formal accreditation as a psychologist. 

To become a registered psychologist you will need to complete further study. Registered psychologists use scientific knowledge of human behaviour to assist individuals who are experiencing mental disorders, relationship problems, learning difficulties, addiction and eating disorders, among other things. Psychologists may work in a specific area of psychology such as cognition, neuroscience, or social and developmental behaviour.
