If you’re ready to provide advanced care in a specialised field this course will prepare you with leadership and communication skills, and deep clinical knowledge. The course comprises eight units which focus on primary health care, Indigenous health, leadership skills, health assessment, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology and translational research.

This course provides an opportunity for advanced practice, registered nurses to expand their scope of practice, knowledge and skills in preparation for endorsement as a nurse practitioner. The course demonstrates a clear integration with the national Nurse practitioner standards for practice (NMBA, 2021) which are grounded in the four domains of clinical practice, research, education and leadership. The course offers:

Flexible delivery
This course is offered in part-time, external study mode. You'll be supported with an extensive learning package of electronic resources, online webinars, and Zoom sessions.
You'll also have direct access to highly-skilled and experienced unit coordinators who are able to provide ongoing support to students across Australia.
QUT offers a comprehensive, on-line Orientation Week program in Semester 1 of the first and second years of the course.
Careers and outcomes
This course is subject to professional accreditation from the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) on behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA). Graduates may apply to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for endorsement as a nurse practitioner with NMBA.
