Why choose this course?

This course is flexible, allowing you to explore career opportunities and develop a unique skill set by choosing electives in complementary areas such as business, digital media, sport and exercise, or biosciences.

You will be taught by staff with extensive industry experience in areas that include sports nutrition, health promotion, childhood obesity, Indigenous health and research. Close links with industry ensure our curriculum is relevant and our graduates can meet the demands of the changing healthcare environment.

Real-world learning

During this course, professional placement offers more than just an experience in nutrition. You can contribute to a real project or initiative that is making immediate changes to improve health outcomes. It is an excellent opportunity to work alongside other professionals. You can also travel and engage with communities in rural and remote Australia, and overseas.

What to expect

Nutritionists focus on issues that affect the whole population. They are employed in a number of industries to analyse food supply, government policy and eating behaviours, and to develop new ways to promote healthy lifestyle choices and prevent diet-related disease within communities. Nutritionists can apply their expert knowledge to a number of nutrition services but are not qualified to provide medical nutrition therapy to individuals or groups in hospitals or other clinical environments.

Work Integrated Learning

During this course you will be required to complete 200 hours of professional work experience.

Double degrees

The previously offered Bachelor of Communication/Bachelor of Nutrition Science has been discontinued.
