Real-world learning

All students are scheduled for 840 hours of clinical practice, with a minimum of 800 hours required for registration in nursing. Placements take place in clinical nursing environments, including hospital and private healthcare facilities. You may also choose to complete a placement that will apply your psychological knowledge and professional skills to a community workplace. 

Elective units in psychology are an opportunity to explore areas of specific interest such as:

  1. alcohol and other drugs
  2. interventions for addictive behaviours
  3. family therapy
  4. human sexuality.

Mandatory notifications for nursing

Careers and outcomes

Graduate prepared to deal with situations where an understanding of how humans respond and react to challenging situations would be an advantage, such as when working as a nurse in emergency, mental health, palliative care or cancer departments. Graduates of this degree may find employment in a number of healthcare settings.

Professional recognition

The Bachelor of Nursing is subject to accreditation from the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council. Graduates are eligible to apply for registered nurse status with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

The Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. To pursue a career in a professional area of psychology, you'll need to undertake further study to gain registration with the Psychology Board of Australia.

Student registration

We automatically register students enrolled in this course with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia in accordance with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009. Details about student registration are available from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
