Why choose this course?

Human services practitioners are advocates and activist leaders. They are committed to social, political, environmental and cultural justice and have a career edge, being prepared to work in a number of diverse and rewarding roles.

Human services practitioners may provide support to individuals, families and communities who are experiencing social or economic adversity, working directly with clients providing interpersonal support, advocating with community, and by providing the direct delivery of services and support.

They may work in policy roles, collaborating with key stakeholders, government, and non-government agencies to implement policy and programs.

QUT’s Bachelor of Human Services prepares graduates to lead change that improves social justice and human rights, and promotes equitable and accessible services.

Real-world learning

You will complete 500 hours of supervised professional experience which will develop your assessment and intervention skills, and your own practice framework. There are also opportunities to complete placements in regional and rural areas, or overseas.

Learn from the best

You will learn from passionate staff who are human services scholars and practitioners, social workers, counsellors, anthropologists, political activists and advocates for social change. With strong connections with industry leaders to ensure your degree reflects the emerging priorities of the profession.

  • Justice: where your human services and justice qualifications position you for a career in policy development, child and family services, Indigenous community work, customs services, court administrative services, non-policy enforcement agencies, or criminology research.
