What to expect

The finance industry is dynamic, constantly changing, and fast-paced. It's driven by market trends, economic factors, and technological advancements, making each day unique. If you have aspirations for a rewarding and fulfilling career that offers global job opportunities, look no further than a career in finance.

As part of our finance major, you'll gain a comprehensive understanding of essential finance concepts and skills crucial for success in the finance industry. This course covers financial management, investment analysis, risk management, and fundamentals of financial planning. Additionally, you'll acquire practical skills in budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting through hands-on projects and real-world case studies.

You will also have many practical hands-on learning opportunities, such as capital investment appraisal, firm valuation, portfolio allocations, and risk management, using current information from our Economics and Finance Bloomberg Lab. Our lab provides access to real-time financial data from Bloomberg, a leading provider for top financial institutions worldwide. This extensive dataset covers companies, commodities, and economies, enabling you to apply classroom theories to real-world financial analysis.

Finally, in the Finance Capstone Unit, you will work in teams to prepare an authentic case study report for a real-world company, closely examining their current situation and decision-making process. Collaborating as a team, you will critically analyse their corporate finance challenges and create a comprehensive case study report with tailored recommendations to suit their needs. You will then deliver your case study as a pitch to the company, showcasing your expertise in the field.
