Why choose this course?
Deepen your applied understanding of human behaviour.
Honours is the next step towards becoming a registered psychologist.
Honours is also a pathway to a career in research. You can explore how human behaviour influences all aspects of society from road safety to responses to trauma.
Honours can give you a competitive edge in roles where understanding human behaviour is important. Graduates work in areas such as mental health, welfare, disability, public service and business sectors.
The honours program builds on an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited undergraduate psychology degree.
The course will equip you with advanced knowledge and practical skills. You will learn how to conduct and report a psychological assessment, develop your therapeutic counselling skills. Culturally safe practice and Indigenous perspectives have a big focus in these units.
In your final unit you will work with a team of your peers to solve a real-world problem for an industry partner. You’ll provide them with recommendations for their practice, such as how to make their services more inclusive.
You will also complete an independent research project under the guidance of an experienced researcher. Your honours topics can prepare you to move into a career in research in an area you are passionate about.
Course requirements
Students should note that this course does involve a sizeable workload. You will need to ensure you have sufficient time available to allocate to this workload.
